Look At Me When I Am Talking to You: Iconic adman speaks

CityFlatsHotel, 83 Monroe Center St NW
We all could use a bit of a brush up when it comes to our personal or professional brands and what makes us attractive. Luckily for you, one of the leaders of branding, Jason Sperling, will be at CityFlatsHotel to present a lecture aptly titled, Look at Me When I Am Talking to You.

The title of the lecture is the same as the book Sperling is creating, which is the very first book to be created entirely on the Instagram platform.

This innovative writer concluded his contribution to literature on his 176th day of working on it with a thrilling note to his readers who, if you are like, me often tire of self-help books, especially long winded ones.

Instead, Sperling, a VP and Creative Director at the RPA Advertising, offers up this fitting prose: “So rather than give advice in typical laissez-faire fashion, I thought it would be an interesting wrinkle to take the rules I was espousing and actually apply to myself (after all, all marketers are consumers and books are consumer products). I would attempt to demonstrate them, and to a certain degree, prove whether I was full of wisdom or full of shit. What could I do to serpentine expectations, create a pink unicorn, apply improv skills and be a great host when people came over?”

His writing is loose and inspiring, fun and yet not silly. Even his Ice Bucket Challenge was a lift above all the others out there. Don’t believe me, then see what this maniac produced for his video ask.

Sperling has been responsible for Honda’s mind-bending and Cannes-winning “Project Drive-In” and “Matthew’s Day Off,” a 2012 Honda Super Bowl spot that has been hailed by ad critics as one of the very best Super Bowl spots ever created. Adweek magazine named his Apple “Mac vs. PC” campaign as the  “Campaign of the Decade.”

Sperling is a guest of the our local AdFed of West Michigan. Comments on the event and on Sperling are being organized around #lookatmebook.
