The Outer Vibe: Hairlicious Rock & Roll

Saturday, March 9, 7:00 p.m. (doors) 9:30 p.m. (concert)
Fans of the five-piece The Outer Vibe not only go to great lengths to see the act, but they also encourage others to get into the fun this band is having whenever they take to the stage. Think of serious arena stage rockers of the past mixed with the guilty pleasures of The Darkness, and you land somewhere near The Outer Vibe.

They are very happy to be able to play many dates outside our city, but the best part is the chance to come home.

“Anytime we play a show in our hometown, it's like a reunion. We see tons of familiar faces, ranging from lifelong friends to fans we met only weeks ago,” says the band. (Their quotes, they say, are a group effort.) They then shared preparations the band is taking for their first show at Billy’s. “We contacted the East Grand Rapids civil engineers to make sure Billy's is structurally sound enough for our sound, but they were not available for comment. Having said that, we are going to bring the house down, brick by brick. We are talking Berlin Wall style, but with crazy hair and tight pants.”

This sense of humor is something that comes naturally to this band, whose last show in Grand Rapids was the New Year’s Eve party in downtown GR where they rocked out 2012 and kicked off a stunning 2013.

Part of the reason for a celebration is that their latest single, "Hoka Hey," is generating buzz and starting to track with radio stations including Green Bays’ WIXX 101 FM. The song, loosely translated form the Sioux tribe to mean, “It’s a good day to die,” but also, “Hurry Hurry,” is a fitting rallying cry for those who think they can just show up at an Outer Vibes show and be a passive observer.

With music like this, it is pretty safe to say that if you don’t like it, get out. Others will no doubt be waiting outside to get in this packed neighborhood venue. Bring your earplugs, too, because these good vibrations will be over 90 dbs.

They've got a lot of love to give on stage, but not a lot of time. This performance in this tiny venue will be more and more rare as they become more and more popular.
