It is hard to imagine Grand Rapids’ live music scene before The Pyramid Scheme. Sure, we all have our favorite concert stories created from any number of the many venues big and small in our region.
However, given the enormity of the music, comedy, and theatrical acts I have seen at the Pyramid Scheme, I literally cannot image downtown without this addition.
So, what better way to celebrate year five than with a Friday night Local Pop Up Showcase — billed as part one of the two nights of celebrations they have on tap for you this weekend.
Friday night’s festive line up features much-beloved local acts Heavier Than Air Flying Machines, Lady Ace Boogie, Man at Arms, and Coffin Problem.
On Saturday night, Pyramid Scheme;s second celebration asks that you be prepared to rock out with Kansas City’s post-hardcore act Shiner and special guests Mutoid Man, who Pitchfork once described as metallic hardcore with a classic-rock extravagance, and Detroit’s post-punk/art band Child Bite.
Those who
