PBS' Rick Steves: He’s not a token player for cannabis legalization

When most folks hear the name Rick Steves, they often think of adventure. But I doubt most folks — before he began his multi-city tour this year — thought he’d be advocating for the legalization of cannabis.

And yet, that is what he will be addressing here when Steves, the popular PBS travel writer and host of “Rick Steves’ Europe,” arrives in Grand Rapids on Thursday, Oct. 4.

Shocking to some is that the author has actually been a member of NORML, the National Organization for the Reform of Marijuana Laws, since 2003.

Rick Steves at this public forum will lead a community discussion in Grand Rapids shining a light about the benefits of legalizing and regulating marijuana. And in the tradition of Steves’ career, he’ll be sharing stories from the road on this topic.

With all the ballot measures before us this fall, this community gathering is just one way of many in our region for our citizens to become better educated on these matters before heading to the polls.
