Vertigo-a-Go-Go: Spin Local

Saturday, Nov. 10, 11 a.m. - 8 p.m.
The local record store might be a dying breed in our urban cities, but if I have learned anything over the years as a customer of Vertigo Music on Division Avenue, the key to longevity is to be flexible and open to the changes.

Perhaps no industry has weathered the rapid changes as often and as fast as the music industry. A testament to Vertigo Music’s staying power is their willingness to adjust their sails and when the time is right, celebrate (often).

The latest celebration is Vertigo a-Go-Go, a relatively new and local version of the international Record Store Day that Vertigo also participates in each year.

This day-long celebration, much like Record Store Day, is a chance for fans of all things local and musical to come together at our downtown record store.

In addition to special pricing and incredible finds among the overflowing bins of one of the state’s largest selections of vinyl records, food and drink will be on hand. Additionally, local bands will be jammed into this intimate venue, adding to the excitement.

Bands performing on Saturday include Kent County String Band (noon), del Brutto (1:00 p.m.), Jake Stilson (2:00 p.m.), Invisible Mansion (3:00 p.m.), I Believe in Julio (4:00 p.m.), Cangue League (5:00 p.m.), and DJs Spydre Murphy and Snax in between bands.

If the names don’t sound familiar, then it is all the more reason to break off your well-worn path and discover a new act or two. And Vertigo Music is just the place to make the connection.
