Wedding Singer: '80s Lovefest Comes Full Circle

Opening Thursday, May 9 (through May 25)
There appears to be no shortage of love for the '80s, from throwback pop music to asymmetrical haircuts. Circle Theatre joins the trend that never ends with an opener to their summer season that is sure to have you moonwalking all the way to the theatre.

The Wedding Singer, a Broadway musical adaptation of the wildly popular romcom of the same name, will transport the audience back to 1985, a time when big and colorful hair was tubular, Wall Street greed was good, Polo collars were up, and the local wedding singer might just be the coolest man in your universe.

The Circle Theatre's production of The Wedding Singer will be directed by Tom Kaechele, who will be joined by musical director Scott Patrick Bell and choreographer Mary Lohman.

"I really like the opening number ("It's Your Wedding Day"), which encourages the audience to sing along to this snappy, jingle-like commercial you hear on TV," says Community Circle Theatre's Managing Director, Lynne Brown-Tepper. "I walked out of The Wedding Singer in such a great mood. It is not only a truly wonderful way to kick off your summer, but the music is really upbeat and infectious -- much like the music of this period."

In addition to The Wedding Singer's debut, Brown-Tepper is quick to point out that this summer's concert series, Hits of the '80s, will feature classic pop tunes from the area's best vocalists and musicians, directed by Kelly Carey. This series debuts on May 13, with follow up performance dates of July 15 and August 12.

Admission: $27.
