Personal concierge business launches in Grand Rapids

Becky Scott wants to help. She can run errands, organize offices and closets, plan vacations, grocery shop and basically do anything that you don't have time to do.

She is also an entrepreneur.

Carriage Trade Personal Concierge is Scott's new venture, which started early in 2013 and, like the name implies, provides personalized "concierge" service to busy clients.

The inspiration for her business came from her travels, personal experience and her own skill set. "I was studying abroad in Europe and was introduced to this concept. I also have a family member in Dallas with a concierge business. I am also very detail oriented and always follow through and follow up," she says.

Scott says her customers range from businesses to families to individuals. She is currently making an effort to target the medical community, especially doctors who are new to the area and don't have time to fully acclimate to new surroundings. Her range of services includes running errands, organizing (offices, closets, and homes), vacation planning, financial monitoring, and maintaining personal schedules.

Scott's sales process includes an initial free consultation. If a customer is interested in hiring her, she bills by the hour or has a 10-hour package of concierge services at a reduced rate.

Currently, Scott is the only employee, but as the business grows, she plans to add staff to help manage accounts.
