Grand Rapids ‘Wedding Cake House’ might be first historic site on SW side

Tradition is held dear on Grand Rapids’ SW side where John Ball Park, Polish halls, and gypsum mines add their own unique character to the area, and now one Queen Anne-style home may become the neighborhood’s first official local historic landmark.

According to excerpts from the story:

Jacob Aman is best known as a recluse who died on 264 acres he bequeathed to the city of Grand Rapids for a park that bears his name.

But Aman also was an impressive carpenter, and at least one piece of work he left behind displays a touch of sweetness. The ornate "Wedding Cake House" he built more than 100 years ago at the northeast corner of Dayton Street SW and Indiana Avenue is proof.
